TRACK 1 · 1-14

Here / There / Over There

Use ここ・そこ・あそこ・どこ to identify and ask about places.

20 min
Before you begin
  • Understand the こ・そ・あ・ど distance system from 1-13.
Why this matters

Location words let you navigate an office, find a meeting room, identify an environment or workstation area, and ask where something is before Track 2 introduces fuller location grammar.

1. The same distance system now points to places

ここ = here (speaker area), そこ = there (listener/nearby mentioned area), あそこ = over there (away from both), どこ = where.

Speaker-centered place map

そこthere · listener/context zone
